The Modiano Market in Thessaloniki, the city’s historic landmark that recently reopened its doors, has announced its Christmas program of music pop up events. This will be the market’s first Christmas after its renovation and its organizers have many surprises in store for people of all ages and musical tastes. Saxophone and percussion sounds, choral voices n sync with swing melodies, music from the Mediterranean basin, Brazilian rhythms and traditional songs will accompany the market’s visitors during their festive food shopping, in a string of small scale concerts that will run to January 8th, 2023. Furthermore, the market will welcome children to activities specially designed for them, such as musical storytelling, Christmas construction workshops, and games. Highlights of Modiano’s Christmas program of music events include: a December 18th concert by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki; a December 23rd choral performance of the Thessaloniki Music School and a Christmas Eve concert by the popular Fortissimo, Greece’s first all – female electric string quartet. Modiano Market, following its soft opening in November, is expected to operate fully during 2023, organizing more events for its clients and guests. The former central food market was restored and renovated by the Fais Group, which invested 10 million euros in the project set to create 300 new jobs.
