Surveys, Trends & Stats ELSTAT: Tourist Night Stays in Greece Rise in Jan-Sept 2022 by GTP editing team 22 December 2022 written by GTP editing team 22 December 2022 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 33 The number of nights spent at tourist accommodation facilities in Greece including campsites from January to September this year increased by 89.1 percent, according to the latest data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). More specifically, according to ELSTAT provisional data for the January-September 2022 period, the number of arrivals to Greece increased by 87.0 percent compared to the same nine-month period in 2021. Between January and September, the number of non-resident arrivals increased by 102.0 percent and by 51.0 percent by residents. During the same period, the number of nights spent at in hotels, similar establishments and campsites by non-residents rose by 100.8 percent and by 40.8 percent of residents compared to the same period in 2021. Over the nine-month period, non-residents accounted for the largest share of arrivals marking a 76.3 percent increase over 2021 and the most nights spent across all forms of tourist accommodation up by 85.6 percent. According to ELSTAT data, the average number of nights spent per person came to 4.3 nights: 4.8 nights for non-residents and 2.6 nights for residents. Meanwhile, total occupancy at hotels and similar establishments excluding campsites and short-stay accommodation facilities, came to 58.0 percent from January to September 2022, compared to 45.7 percent in the same period in 2021.
