Grivalia Hospitality, a leading investment company in the luxury hospitality sector, has recently announced its plans to develop the first energy autonomous luxury resort in Greece. According to the company’s investment plan, the new sustainable leisure and wellness hotel will be located on Megalonissos, the largest island of the Petalia complex in the southern part of the Gulf of Evia, Central Greece. Grivalia’s ultra-luxury resort will cover all its energy needs either directly through its own solar power network or via a net metering system, making it one of the first worldwide to achieve this sustainable goal. Furthermore, the resort will run with all the necessary green infrastructure like a water supply and irrigation system, a desalination unit, a fire protection system, an energy efficient lighting network and a boat dock, among others. The Petalia (Petalioi) island complex. All constructions on site will follow an environmentally friendly plan with the use of sustainable materials, showcasing respect for the local ecosystem and biodiversity. Following a soft development model, structures built will correspond to less than 8 percent of the total area used for the investment. The green resort will include a luxury hotel, restaurants, fitness and wellness areas, as well as a beach club, all offering a wide range of services to its Greek and international guests. In addition, the creation of a set of luxury branded residences is planned, whose future owners will have the opportunity to enjoy a combination of privacy and luxury. Grivalia’s investment on Megalonissos is estimated at 280 million euros with a contribution to Greece’s GDP predicted to exceed one billion euros. At the same time, the development of the new resort will strengthen local economy and combat unemployment, since during its construction phase almost 800 jobs will be created, while at its operation phase 400 new permanent jobs will be on offer related to a wide range of specialties. In addition, Grivalia is currently in advanced discussions with an internationally renowned hotelier, who doesn’t yet have a presence in Greece, to take over the management of the new resort. All the company’s developments, which relocated its headquarters to Greece in 2022, are realized with respect towards the natural landscape, the history of each building and the heritage of each place, following the best architecture, construction, sustainability and design practices. The company’s portfolio includes flagship luxury tourism projects like Amanzoe, One&Only Aesthesis in Glyfada, ON Residence, Avant Mar on Paros and the Voula Project, among others.
