The German – based security company, which focuses on developing and operating early warning, information, and communication systems for professional and effective crisis management, rated the current risk factors affecting countries around the world based on a multitude of criteria. These criteria fell into the following categories: Entry and exit, transportation, strikes, infrastructure, health, natural hazards, security and special risks (cultural characteristics, LGBTQ, female travelers, criminal law characteristics), among others. Based on these categories, A3M’s global map, was divided in five color zones depicting separate levels of risk: Very low risk (dark green), low risk (light green), increased risk (yellow), high risk (orange) and very high risk (red). According to the map, Greece, alike most European countries, the US, Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Morocco, Namibia, and Cuba, among others, is considered a country that can be travelled to with only few restrictions and its visitors face only a low level of risk (light green). Risks potentially affecting travel to Greece and this category’s countries and may require special measures from travelers, might arise in the areas of strikes, health, natural hazards, crime and demonstrations, and therefore attention should be paid to the specific categories. Countries such as Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Iceland, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway and Finland are considered the safest to travel to in 2023 with Ukraine, a series of Middle East and North and Central Africa states, categorized as “very high risk” (red category) with travelling, sometimes, deemed completely impossible to these areas. Furthermore, countries such as Brazil, India and China fall into the yellow zone category indicating “increased risks” that travelers to these regions may face in categories such as health, natural hazards, violence or crime. Finally, as far as Russia is concerned, data places it currently in the orange category (high risk) with travelers given the heads up that special arrangements should be made prior to departure to the country.
