According to poll findings, the Greek islands are at the top of vacationers’ wish lists followed by Italy, the Canary Islands and Portugal. More specifically, the Top 10 list for UK package holidaymakers are: the Greek islands, Italy, Canary islands, Portugal, Cyprus, mainland Spain, Balearic islands, Turkey, France and Croatia. A closer look at the findings reveals an increasing demand for package holidays with a third of the 2,000 people polled already planning one for this year. Other key takeaways of the Jet2holidays report concerning British travelers: -39 percent enjoy having someone arrange transfers, accommodation, and flights -32 percent welcomed not having to worry about anything when they reach their destination -29 percent said they liked having a contact person -28 percent said great value for money affected their choice -82 percent said the current economic climate led them to consider a package vacation -28 percent said they appreciate the transparency of package holidays and are happy not having to worry about surprise hidden fees. “Brits are looking for the best value getaways, and knowing everything is taken care of for them is the icing on the cake. Package holidays offer more peace-of-mind for holidaymakers who might still be feeling uncertain after the pandemic and they provide value and assurance to those feeling the pinch in today’s economy,” said a Jet2holidays spokesperson. According to Jet2holidays, the main benefits of booking a package deal include flight, accommodation and baggage is taken care of; ATOL protection; customer support; value for money; booking confirmations in one place; and range of holiday options. Late last year, UK airline Jet2, expanded its activities in Greece, which included adding Athens as a new destination to its roster. The company’s CEO Steve Heapy also announced plans to launch the largest ever flight program for Greece in 2023.
