A program that runs annually, “Tourism for All” gives lower income Greeks and their families the opportunity to enjoy almost a week of subsidized vacations at various destinations across the country. The program covers a portion of vacation costs (accommodation, transport and F&B) through vouchers and at the same time compensates business owners. Speaking to SKAI TV, Minister Kikilias said 400,000 vouchers were distributed to Greeks, including families and couples, helping them with their holiday expenses. “So, this goes beyond the 18 billion euros of revenue brought by Greek tourism – three billion above the initial target – this year,” the minister said. “Not only did we help and support primary production, the business world, construction, the hundreds of thousands of workers in tourism and the entire Greek economy from it, but we proved in practice that we support and help the Greeks, the middle class, the people that are in real need of support and help,” Kikilias underlined, adding that the program will be extended until 2025.
