Lefkada, Greece.

A total of 125,000 applicants will be receiving a card to use for discounts on accommodation under the “Tourism for All” program which subsidizes holidays for lower-income Greeks and their families, Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias announced this week.

Those who have been selected via draw for the subsidy will be able to activate and use their card as soon as they receive an activation message. Tourism for All cards can be redeemed until the end of June.

More specifically, the newly announced recipients come on top of 275,000 Greeks selected so far bringing the total beneficiaries of the program to 400,000, he said.

The Tourism Ministry’s “Tourism for All” scheme with a budget of 60 million euros offers a 150-euro voucher to eligible applicants which covers accommodation and a 200-euro voucher to applicants with disabilities (AMEA).

For the first time, recipients will be able to use a card facilitating payments at hotels and accommodation facilities across Greece and at the same time, tourism services providers will be compensated directly.

“With the ‘Tourism for All’ program, we have so far helped a total of 400,000 families go on holidays or short-day trips, while ensuring the continuity of the program at least until 2025,” said Kikilias.

The minister went on to add that besides offering cards to facilitate payments, the program also gives Greeks the chance to go on holiday off season thus supporting tourism services providers at winter destinations while boosting off-season travel and significantly strengthening local economies.
