According to the municipality, the list of collecting items includes: blankets, pillows, linen, sleeping bags; clean clothes for adults and children including coats, winter hats, gloves and scarves; ready to eat (biscuits, crackers, etc.), canned goods (manually opening) and bottled water; baby formula and diapers; hygiene kits for women and children; and basic first aid kits with painkillers, anti-inflammatory medication, gauzes, bandages. Between February 8-10, items can be donated at: – Athens City Hall located on 63 Athinas Street from 08:00 to 20:00; – the municipal Mutual Citizen Aid Hub located on Domokou 2 & Philadelphias streets near the Larissis Train Station from 08:00 to 15:00, – and the municipal Friendship Clubs located in 25 different Athenian neighborhoods from 08:00 to 14:00 (a full list of Athens’ Friendship Clubs and their contact information is available here in Greek). “The destruction in Turkey and Syria is unimaginable. Let’s actively support these people who are currently in grave need,” said Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis. Once the aid collection is complete the municipality will ensure the immediate dispatch of all items and supplies to those in need.
