Santorini, the idyllic Greek island known for its romantic sunsets, whitewashed buildings and unique views, has been ranked among the top 10 most romantic destinations in the world, according to a study by tourism intelligence company Mabrian.

For this Valentine’s Day, Mabrian analyzed mentions on social networks of specific romantic words for all the destinations that the company monitors, focusing on content published during 2022.

The analysis found that Santorini was one of the 10 destinations that most aroused romantic feelings among users of social networks. The island’s picturesque landscapes, charming villages, and luxurious accommodations have made it a popular choice for couples seeking a romantic getaway.

The study also revealed that the top 10 most romantic destinations are located in just six countries, with five of them in Italy, and one each in: Greece, the Maldives, the Czech Republic, France, and Turkey. The most romantic places according to users’ mentions on social media are Venice and Rome in Italy, followed by Santorini in Greece, the Maldives, and Palermo in Italy.

Santorini’s inclusion in Mabrian’s study follows its recent recognition as the top global romantic cruise destination by Panache Cruises, a top Greek luxury destination as well as one of the most popular winter honeymoon choices across the globe.

Mabrian’s real-time data analysis provides valuable insights into tourism trends, allowing for better decision-making based on real information. The company also complements social media analysis with information on spending patterns, satisfaction rates, and perceptions of security, among other indicators.
