Gerekou referred to the contribution of the segment to Greece’s recovery in 2022, adding that it was a top priority to attract travelers interested in yachting and sailing experiences all year round. At the same time, she said repositioning the Greek marine tourism market should be next on the agenda. This she said should follow the focus of the national marketing strategy for the promotion of ‘brand Greece’, enhancing the “sea and sun” model as well as dynamically repositioning the country as a top of mind sustainable destination offering a multitude of authentic experiences 365 days a year. Actions should include “enriching this model with multi-thematic, authentic experiences, such as highlighting pristine, coastal and island destinations and the authentic way of life of small local communities, gastronomy and culture, wellness experiences,” said Gerekou.
