Greece will participate through the Greek Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage (ELLET) and the City of Athens will support the strengthening or creation of new regional heritage hubs. Other partners in Europe include the Europeana Foundation, Eurocities, ICLEI and KU Leuven. The European Heritage Hub project aims to gather know-how and pool resources to mobilize and strengthen Europe’s cultural heritage movement. Among others, the hub – to operate from spring 2023 to 2025 – will develop an autonomous advocacy and knowledge platform bringing together cultural heritage stakeholders, foster synergies and cooperation between existing heritage initiatives and actors, and create new ones when relevant. The European Heritage Hub should be beneficial to all. It will help us to further demonstrate the relevance of cultural heritage as a strategic resource for the future of Europe and as an invaluable vector for achieving many priority goals of the European Union and its key partners in Europe and beyond,” said Europe Nostra Secretary General Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailović. The hub will build on the success of the European Year and ensure its lasting impact through a set of 60 actions. The Europa Nostra logo. The pilot project establishing a European Heritage Hub will bring concrete means to the consortium to make positive impact at local level,” said Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth. Last summer, Athens with the support of ELLET was named “Europa Nostra Heritage Hub”.
