Chania, Crete.

As part of ongoing efforts to showcase the Cretan town of Chania and promote its tourism offerings, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) has teamed up with the Tourism Partnership for Chania.

The news was announced during a special event this week at the town’s old port marking the partnership’s fifth year.

Launched in 2019, the Tourism Partnership for Chania, an initiative of Marketing Greece, together with the Chania Hotels AssociationFraport GreeceAEGEAN and Eurobank, is aimed at promoting Chania as a year-round destination.

“The next day in tourism will be even more competitive compared to the pre-Covid era. That’s why we must tap into all the tools at our disposal…. above all, we must join forces,” said GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis.

Among others, the Chania Tourism Partnership, which has launched several digital campaigns, is now presenting three new videos focusing on authentic experiences among these the “Chania By Locals”, which tells the tales of the city of Chania through three itineraries:

Venetian Harbor-Topanas-Splatzia;
– Koum Kapi-Tabakaria;

The videos invite viewers to discover the city’s history, architecture, arts and gastronomy, while at the same time encouraging them to connect with the locals.

“The effectiveness of the partnership’s work is mainly the result of the excellent cooperation between its partners and  the inclusion of the GNTO not only confirms the quality of the project that has been implemented for five years, but also comes to strongly support its continuation,” said Marketing Greece CEO Ioanna Dretta.

Also commenting, Chania Hotels Association President Manolis Yiannoulis said the partnership and its activities were setting the example for other destinations to follow, adding that synergies create results.

“We hope to highlight in the best possible way the uniqueness of Chania and to invite visitors from all over the world to experience the authenticity of the destination and its people,” said AEGEAN Marketing Director Marina Valvi.

Valvi added that AEGEAN will “continue to contribute to this common goal, both by offering promotion on all its communication channels and by creating a strong connection program of Chania throughout the year, through its hubs in Athens and Thessaloniki, as well as with direct domestic and international flights in the summer, including from Israel which will start in a few months from Chania”.
