The accident, a head-on collision between a passenger train and oncoming cargo train, took place late Tuesday and left at least 36 people dead and dozens injured. In an announcement, the hotel chamber expressed its condolences to the families of victims, and announced the offering of free accommodation as the Greek hospitality’s sector “minimum contribution” in the handling of the tragic event. According to the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, those related to victims and injured passengers in need of accommodation can contact the Larissa Central Police Department on 2410-683175 or 76. Following the train crash, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis ordering flags to be flown at half-mast and declared three days of national mourning. The Greek PM referred to the accident as an “unspeakable tragedy”.
