For the first time in the history of the expo, the sector will have its own dedicated hall (26c), where German and international experts will share knowledge and latest findings and technologies, with M2 Health Travel serving as the main organizer of the show’s segment. “Medical tourism has become increasingly important in society, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic, and it is growing every year,” said commissioner for Corporate Social Responsibility at ITB Berlin Rika Jean-Francois. Jean-Francois went on to underline that sustainability in medical tourism should not be overlooked, and global cooperation was needed for the industry to become more sustainable. The Medical & Health Tourism event at ITB Berlin will commence on March 6 with an ITB Clinic tour for medical buyers and agencies. The following day will feature presentations and panel discussions by experts, including Shaaz Mehmood, founder and CEO of Medijourn Solutions PVT Ltd., who will speak about “Promises and Hurdles in the Medical Value Travel Industry”. The official opening of the Medical pavilion, organized by ITB Berlin, the European Historic Thermal Towns Association (EHTTA), the European Spa Association (ESPA) and the association of the Health Tourism Industry (HTI), will be held on the same day, followed by various presentations, interviews with experts. On Wednesday March 8, following discussions and presentations on new products in health tourism, robotics and sleep medicine the ITB Medical & Health Night at the Amaro Hotel Grand Central will take place featuring the presentation of the ITB Medical & Health Tourism Award 2023. More specifically, the UNWTO roundtable discussion on “Connecting sports tourism to health” will discuss ways to establish links between both sectors while the “Women and Medical Value Tourism” panel, that will follow it, will talk about gender medicine.
