Additionally, plans include utilizing Olympic venues along the coastal front and linking the wider are from Faliro to Piraeus and the Peace and Friendship Stadium.

The project will be carried out in two phases through EU funding.

Describing the plan as “the largest regeneration project in Attica”, Development & Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis said it “will change the daily life of all Athenian citizens and will offer a real quality of life to millions of Greeks”.

“Through this project, we recognize the importance of supporting investments that not only have a profitable and reliable business plan, but at the same time a strong development impact and benefits for the local community,” said Attica Region Governor Giorgos Patoulis.

Patoulis met with the mayors of cities bordering with the Faliro Delta to discuss the plan, which he said will serve as a flagship project for the European Commission as it will be constructed according to the New European Bauhaus initiative that connects the European Green Deal to living spaces and experiences.

A revamp of the Faliro Delta was also announced in 2018 and the creation of Athens largest park in 2011.
