ACI Europe, the European branch of the trade association of the world’s airports Airports Council International, recently launched the call for submissions for this year’s edition of its high-profile Best Airport Awards. The prestigious awards recognize excellence in airport activities across a range of categories, including resilience in recovery, innovation, accessibility and environmental performance. The winners will be celebrated at the ACI Europe / World Annual Congress and General Assembly (WAGA) in Barcelona on June 27. The focus of this year’s awards is on operational resilience and sustainability, in line with the airport industry-wide commitment to achieving Net Zero CO2 emissions by 2050. The Best European Airport award will be presented to the airport that has shown outstanding achievement in these areas, with airports competing in five different categories based on passenger traffic volumes in 2019. The deadline for airports to submit applications is April 28. Best Airport awards 2022. In addition to the Best European Airport award, the awards portfolio includes dedicated accolades for airports that excel in specific areas of their activity. These include the Eco-Innovation award, which recognizes outstanding environmental performance and innovative approaches to environmental management, the Digital Transformation award for embracing digitalization and improving operations, the Accessible Airport award for providing accessible services to travelers, and the Human Resources Excellence award for first-class practices and processes in workforce development.
