Dubai-based airline Emirates recently unveiled a new signature livery for its fleet, refreshing its distinctive branding for the third time in the company’s history.

The new design retains the key elements of Emirates’ identity, such as the UAE flag on the tailfin and the Arabic calligraphy.

“Aircraft livery is the most instantly recognizable brand real estate for any airline. We’re refreshing our livery to keep it modern, without losing the key elements of our identity,” said Emirates President Sir Tim Clark.

The new livery is being rolled out across the fleet gradually, with the first aircraft to sport the new design being an Airbus A380, which has just emerged from Emirates Engineering after its makeover.

Emirates “new face” features a dynamic and flowing version of the UAE flag on the tailfin, while the wingtips have been painted red with the Emirates logo in Arabic calligraphy.

The signature gold “Emirates” lettering across the main body in English and Arabic is now 32.5 percent larger and more prominent. The website URL “Emirates.com” has been dropped from the design, while the iconic red branding on the aircraft belly has been retained.

The new livery is set to be applied to 24 aircraft in total, including 17 Boeing 777s, by the end of 2023. All new Emirates aircraft, starting with the first Airbus A350 in August 2024, will be delivered in this new livery.

The original Emirates livery was unveiled with the airline’s launch in 1985 and underwent its first refresh 14 years later. Since then, the airline has introduced numerous colorful and eye-catching designs, including bespoke designs for sponsorship brand association and special occasions, such as the UAE’s 50th Jubilee livery and the Expo 2020 Dubai livery.
