Anastasopoulou met with Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Christos Triandopoulos and Deputy Infrastructure Minister George Karagiannis in Halkida to discuss progress made on the ambitious regeneration plan which consists of 71 projects budgeted at around 400 million euros. “We have the financial tools from the Recovery and Resilience Fund to heal the wounds left behind by natural disasters and give new development prospects to Northern Evia by enhancing the travel options offered through special forms of tourism, such as wellness tourism, religious, culinary, and marine tourism that is already developing,” said Anastasopoulou. She went on to add that the plan includes developing infrastructure on the island and upgrading the spa town of Edipsos into a top wellness destination that will attract younger travelers from Greece and aboard. Among others, Anastasopoulou also referred to the effectiveness of the North Evia Pass, which supported island residents and helped businesses recover after the massive fires. “According to data and to feedback from Northern Evia entrepreneurs and stakeholders, the North Evia Pass achieved its purpose in supporting tourism in the region, while also contributing to the extension of the tourist season,” she said. Enough of so called “development” of non sustainable progress. Modern Agriculture is needed. Enough of tourism. Reply Helen Nickolson 31 March 2023 - 19:08 I’m very happy for Northern Evia! However, Central and Southern Evia also need attention. The road from Halkida to Kymi is antiquated!!!
