The relocation of the Parnitha casino to the northeastern Athens suburb of Marousi, which was initially stopped in 2021, has now received the approval of the Council of State, Greece’s highest administrative court. Following the recent decision, entertainment and hospitality giant Regency Entertainment will invest 200 million euros in the creation of “a unique tourism and entertainment attraction”, said the company. The casino, known as the Regency Casino Mont Parnes, is planned to relocate to the “Dilaveri estate”, a property owned by the Laskaridis family (Hotel Grande Bretagne, King George, Athens Capital-MGallery) and located on the junction of Kifissias Avenue and Spyrou Loui in the Municipality of Marousi. The casino is currently the only one located in Athens. Regency Casino Mont Parnes. According to the Council of State decision, the operating company will also be responsible for road works and traffic management in the area. Additionally, half of the 13.5-acre area will be handed over to the Municipality of Marousi upon completion and will include park and recreation areas as well as pedestrian walkways and roads connecting with the Olympic Stadium facilities and neighboring areas. The project “will have particularly positive effects on the wider region and on the local economy, further increase revenue of the state and of the local municipality, and create 1,000 new direct and indirect jobs,” said Regency Entertainment in a statement. The decision finalizes procedures for the move which have lasted for some 15 years. Regency Casino Mont Parnes. The Greek state retains a 49 percent participation rate in the casino. Meanwhile, in relevant news, Lamda Development and GEK TERNA Group finalized an agreement for the concession of the land on The Ellinikon site on which the latter will develop Greece’s first integrated tourist resort-casino (Integrated Resort Casino – IRC).
