Starting from Thessaloniki, with support from the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO) and Mazi Travel and Events travel agency, the bishops visited the city’s most important historic and religious monuments, including Veria, Vergina’s Royal Macedonian Tombs, Ancient Philippi, and Chrysoupoli in Kavala, all of which Apostle Paul visited during his Greek tour. The representatives of the US Evangelical Church then continued their journey, visiting Meteora, Delphi, Athens, and Corinth. Following the conclusion of the fam trip, the President of the US bishop community confirmed that 12 more groups will be visiting the country within the next 18 months to follow in Apostle Paul’s footsteps. “Thessaloniki boasts 15 UNESCO World Heritage monuments, and with its proximity to Mount Athos, it attracts visitors from all over the world,” said TTO President Voula Patoulidou. “As one of Apostle Paul’s stops during his Gospel preaching in Greece, it is an ideal location combining sightseeing and pilgrimage,” she added. Paul is a unique personality in the Christian religion, even though he never belonged to Jesus’ 12 Disciples cycle. His journey in Greece is a route that touches not only believers but also all history lovers.
