Greek Islands Dominate Most Beautiful Mediterranean Islands 2023 List

Santorini, Corfu, Zakynthos, Rhodes, Milos, Folegandros, Lefkada and Naxos have been included in the 18 Most Beautiful Mediterranean Islands to Visit in 2023 list, recently published by award winning travel blog The Planet D.

Created by Canadian film industry veterans Dave Bouskill and Debra Corbeil in 2007, The Planet D has become one of the most popular English-speaking travel blogs while its founders were named one of the Top 10 Travel Influencers in the world by Forbes Magazine.

The blog’s Mediterranean islands 2023 bucket list hails the variety and character of most islands located in the region, underlining their unique offerings “from pristine beaches to…delicious food and attractions dating back to the ancient world”.

Eight Greek islands managed to get mentioned on the list, the most any Mediterranean country got mentioned, followed by Spain with three mentions.

Greece’s Santorini got 2nd place just behind Mallorca which was named the Most Beautiful Mediterranean Island to Visit in 2023.

Following Santorini, Corfu got 4th place, getting praised for its popularity and ability to host tourists during off seasons like autumn and spring.

Planet D’s editors called Zakynthos (10th) “a party island”, while Rhodes (11th) was hailed for its rich multicultural history. Milos (14th), Naxos (18th), and Lefkada (16th) were included as instant vacation classics on the list, while Folegandros was mentioned as an ideal location to unwind far away form the crowds and major tourist attractions.

Cyprus (9th), was also included on the travel blog’s list for its party culture atmosphere and hot summer weather.
