May 1 Strike to Disrupt Public Transport, Ferry Travel in Greece

Transportation in Athens will be disrupted on Monday, May 1, as public transport and ferry employees have announced their participation in strike mobilizations to mark May Day.

According to the latest updates, the metro, electric railway (ISAP) and tram will not be running for 24 hours.

Also, buses and ILPAP trolleys will be operating only between 9am and 9pm due to work stoppages.

According to reports, trains of Hellenic Train (passenger and freight trains) and the suburban railway (Proastiakos) are also expected to not be running for 24 hours. An official announcment has not been made yet.

Moreover, the Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) announced that it will hold a 24-hour strike in all ship categories.

Travelers that have booked ferry tickets are advised to check with their travel agents or contact local port authorities for further information.

All strikes will run from 00:01 to 24:00 on Monday.
