Four Greek destinations – Kalamata, Kefalonia, Kos, and Zakynthos – have made it on the top 20 list of the World’s Best Destinations for Scenic Drives, according to a survey released recently by DiscoverCars.com.

An online platform that connects consumers with car rental companies across the globe, DiscoverCars.com asked 156,455 of their customers to rate the destinations they visited based on their “scenic driving experiences”.

The final top 20 list included only those places that had received 100 or more reviews.

“Each year, our customers provide us with real-world feedback based on their own vacation on the road,” said DiscoverCars.com’s Aleksandrs Buraks, adding that this year “some of the highest-placing cities of 2022 have failed to even make the top 20”.

Greece’s Kalamata received the highest placement among the Greek destinations and finished in 5th place overall. Kefalonia followed in 8th place, Kos in 14th, and Zakynthos in the 19th place.

Both Greece and Australia saw four destinations each enter the top 20 ranking, making them the most scenic countries for a road trip, according to DiscoverCars.com customer reviews.

Overall, the top three destinations for a road trip in 2023, according to DiscoverCars.com, were Bratislava (Slovakia), Rovaniemi (Finland), and Victoria (Seychelles). Victoria remained in 3rd place, the same position it held in the 2022 ranking, while Bratislava and Rovaniemi were new destinations to enter the top 3.
