Greece’s official tourism website – visitgreece.gr – won the gold prize at the recent Greek Tourism Awards 2023, powered by GlobeOne Digital and organized by Boussias Events.

The awards, which celebrated their 10th anniversary this year, recognized Greece’s tourism pioneers for 2023 and were presented in a ceremony at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Athens, attended by over 500 people.

Managed by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), visitgreece.gr underwent a revamp and now features new functionalities and enriched content. The website won the Gold Tourism Award in the Digital Tourism category and the Website subcategory.

In collaboration with ATCOM and COSMOTE, visitgreece.gr was redesigned in 2021 to improve users’ navigation and access to information about Greece. The new thematic categories added to the GNTO’s tourism portal include:

  • Plan Your Trip,” where users can find all the necessary information for their trip to Greece on a single page, from selecting destinations and attractions to booking tickets and reservations.
  • The culinary map, which enables users to explore Greece’s map online based on the gastronomy available at each destination.
  • The administrative division map option, which connects the Visit Greece page to Greece’s 13 administrative regions and their official sites.
  • The Movies by Destination category, allowing users to discover all the movies filmed in the specific region of Greece they intend to visit.

The GNTO’s head of the Tourism Promotion Department, Eleni Mitraki, and head of the Audiovisual Media and Production Department, Eleftheria Filli, received the award on behalf of the organization. ATCOM’s Business Development Director, Mary Vourlaki, received the award on behalf of the company.

The GNTO’s win at the Tourism Awards 2023 once again underlined the organization’s commitment in providing the best service to tourists visiting Greece by utilizing the digital world in the most innovative and effective way possible.
