The beauty and culture of Meteora and Trikala will soon be highlighted on Romanian state television network TVR, following a recent familiarization trip of Romanian journalists to the destinations organized by the Trikala Destination Management Organization. The trip, which was planned in collaboration with the Greek National Tourism Organization’s Romanian branch and its director Giorgos Staphylakis, saw Titi Dinca, producer of Romanian television’s most popular travel show Cap Compas and journalist Estela Dinca, who produces the religious TV program Universul Credintei, spend two days exploring Trikala, Meteora and nearby destinations. During their visit, the producers experienced Meteora and its monasteries, the traditional town of Kastraki and the city of Trikala. They filmed monuments; gathered information on the area’s history and culture; and enjoyed the local cuisine and Trikala’s gastronomy known as “Meteorisimo“. They also explored the unique natural beauty of Pyli and participated in activities that the destination offers to visitors. Photo source: Trikala Destination Management Organization. Cap Compas, the oldest travel show on Romanian TV, is shown on the second channel of the state network with an audience of at least 200,000 viewers, while Universul Credintei focuses on religious traditions and monuments and is shown on TVR1. Cap Compas is also rebroadcast on three more channels of the state network, thus covering a large part of the international audience as well as viewers with a special interest in cultural issues. The familiarization trip followed the Trikala Destination Management Organization’s successful presence at the Romexpo international tourism exhibition in Bucharest in February. According to the visiting TV producers, the material and information they collected during their visit ensures a complete presentation of the destinations they visited to their shows’ large audience. The Trikala Destination Management Organization expect the Romanian TV shows to greatly assist to the promotion of Meteora and Trikala as travel destinations. Meteora and Trikala are known for their natural beauty, rich history, and cultural significance, making them an ideal destination for cultural and alternative tourism activities. The upcoming TV broadcast is expected to attract more tourists from Romania and other countries who want to experience the region’s beauty and learn more about its unique culture and history.
