Jet2 to Fly to 5 Greek islands from New Base at Liverpool Airport

UK airline and tour operator to Greece Jet2 recently announced expansion plans that include the launch of flights and holidays from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, with a particular focus on Greece.

Starting from summer 2024, Jet2, which runs leisure flights through Jet2.com and package holidays through its tour operator Jet2holidays, will operate flights to five Greek islands from their new base in Liverpool.

According to Jet2, the introduction of these new routes comes in response to the growing demand from customers and independent travel agents in the region.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will offer flights to Corfu, Crete (Heraklion), Kos, Rhodes, and Zakynthos from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, providing holidaymakers in Merseyside and the surrounding areas with convenient access to these popular Greek destinations.

More particularly, the company’s Summer 2024 Program to Greece from Liverpool John Lennon Airport will include flights to:

Corfu – up to two weekly services (Monday and Friday)
Crete (Heraklion) – up to two weekly services (Tuesday and Friday)
Kos – weekly Friday services
Rhodes – up to two weekly services (Monday and Thursday) – exclusive route
Zakynthos – weekly Wednesday services – exclusive route

The decision to establish a base at Liverpool John Lennon Airport marks a significant milestone in Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ continued growth and success story. This expansion allows more travelers to benefit from the companies’ award-winning flights and ATOL protected package holidays, known for their VIP customer service and high-quality offerings.

In addition to Greece, the summer program from Liverpool John Lennon Airport includes other popular destinations such as the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Mainland Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria, Portugal, Madeira, and Cyprus.

The expansion of operations at Liverpool John Lennon Airport also brings significant investment to the region, with over 200 new jobs created in various roles including flight deck, cabin crew, engineering, and ground operations.

In their first summer of operations from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will operate up to 54 weekly flights, representing 565,000 seats on sale.

The first Jet2.com flight from Liverpool’s airport will depart on 28th March 2024.

Let’s hope Jet2 have employed both English and Greek service personnel who are excellent at :-
Problem solving
Communication
Organisation
Being considerate to elderly and disabled passengers.

Last year flight from Athens to Birmingham at beginning of July was farcical with 4 gate changes, ques for boarding a non landed plane, no communication about anything to do with gate changes, panic amongst the gate stall when questioned, not having different ques for paper boarding passes and phone ones.
I really do hope changes have been implemented and lessons learnt and compensation offered for the 2 hour delay we experienced in 2022 !!! Complained but still awaiting a response….
