British holidaymakers flying on easyJet are picking Greece this year, according to a poll conducted by the budget carrier.

More specifically, according to the survey carried out on 2,000 British adults by easyJet, Europe is the top destination for British vacationers with 74 percent planning to go there. The most popular picks are Spain (23 percent), Greece (9 percent) and France (5 percent).

The study goes on to reveal that nine in 10 Brits are planning to travel more or about the same in 2024. At the same time, British holidaymakers are prioritizing trips abroad more than ever, despite the cost-of-living crisis.

Additionally, after the Covid-19 pandemic, Brits are placing more value on enjoying life and on their summer holidays. More than half (56 percent) of those polled said the pandemic had changed their views on travel with over a third saying they prefer to make lifelong memories over spending their money on material items.

Additionally, data reveals that the current economic climate is not deterring Brits from their holidays and that traveling is now considered more important with people (45 percent) needing something to look forward to and 37 percent wishing to get a break away.

Other key takeaways from the survey include:

Tourist bus in Athens.

57 percent said that despite the cost-of-living crisis, they will always protect their summer holiday

-80 percent of Brits said they will still be taking a holiday this summer

-87 percent will spend more or about the same on holidays in 2023 than last year

– 56 percent of those polled said Covid changed their views on travel

-23 percent said that they were traveling more than before the pandemic

-46 percent said they need more breaks from day-to-day life and 39 percent that they want to make up for the years they couldn’t travel

-47 percent said they made savings during the pandemic and are now using that money on travel

-65 percent are booking more budget-friendly hotels and resorts (27 percent) and nearly half (45 percent) will be more likely to book flights with a low-cost carrier than before Covid.

“The summer holiday has always been the highlight of the year for so many, giving people and families the chance to get away, spend time together relaxing and making lifelong memories. Rather than the cost of living dampening demand, instead it seems travel is more important than ever, with more customers opting for airlines like easyJet which promise the best value,” said easyJet CEO Johan Lundgren.
