Greece’s INSETE Launches Free Air Data Tracking Tool

The INSETE research body announced the launch of the Air Data Tracker, a free tool monitoring air seat planning and bookings on all inbound international flights.

The new tool, which comes after INSETE’s Recovery Tracker, collects, assesses and presents data on the evolution of airline seat planning and reservations offering a one-stop search for accurate inbound traffic data.

Flight schedule data will be updated weekly. Air seat planning data includes seat distribution by month, week, airport and country of origin, as well as comparisons with the corresponding data of 2022. Flight reservation information is updated monthly.

All information comes from UK-based global travel data provider OAG and covers approximately 75 percent of all airline seats. The tool does not include booked seats data on charter flights and on some low cost carriers, INSETE said.

According to the latest available data from May 22, 2023:

– the total number of available air seats for the summer season to Greece comes to some 25 million up by 2.2 percent over the corresponding period last year driven by an increase in Q2

– despite a stronger second quarter, seasonality remains high with 53.7 percent of airline seats available in Q3

– increases were reported from the UK (3.6 percent) and the US (+1.4 percent), with declining air seats from Germany (-14.9), France (-8.3 percent), Italy (-2.5 percent), and the Netherlands (-1.5 percent).

– approaching peak summer season, the number of air seats offered is rising every week.

Additionally, the new INSETE tool also examines air seat reservations on international flights and compares data to 2022 both for Greece and with rival countries: Spain, Portugal, and Italy. Changes in bookings to Greece based on month, market and main airports are also presented.

According to the latest available data in terms of international flights:

– major markets are on an upward trend. Indicatively, US (+34.3 percent) and Italy (+117 percent)

– overall, Greece sees a 36.1 percent increase compared to Italy (+50 percent), Spain (+28.9 percent) and Portugal (+29.8 percent).
