Kymi, a coastal town on Evia Island, these days will be hosting the Akropolis Jet Raid, a unique sports event created for thrill-seekers and adrenaline enthusiasts.

Organized in collaboration with HJSBA (Hellenic Jet-Ski, Sport & Boating Association), the event will run from June 12 to 18, attracting participants seeking the ultimate endurance test in extreme conditions.

The competition will feature races in two categories: F1 (one pilot/one machine) and F2 (two pilots/one machine), including a variety of race formats such as oval, close, flash, offshore, endurance, slalom, navigation, and enlace. Two races will take place daily at beaches on Evia (located in Kymi or at Chiliadou) and Skyros, ensuring an action-packed schedule for participants and spectators.

Jet Raid will commence with a welcome reception and parade of jet ski competitors, accompanied by local clubs, dance groups, and sailing clubs, and will conclude with an awards ceremony.

With a successful 12-year track record, the Akropolis Jet Raid has showcased picturesque locations throughout Greece. This year it runs under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Central Greece Region, the municipalities of Kymi & Skyros, and the local port authorities as well as the support of companies like Kymi Palace hotel.

With over 50 participants expected, including a strong international presence, the Akropolis Jet Raid will showcase Greek hospitality and establish Kymi as a tourism destination.

Jet Raid was established back in 1998 by Patrick Nassogne, with eleven jet ski pilots and a handful of volunteers. In 2002 the project evolved into an international event and since then visited and been held in a lot of different environments and places around the world (Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, Gambia, Uruguay, Peru, Greece, Brazil, Argentina).

What a shame that in this day and age people are still participating in such ecologically disastrous (and very noisy!) activities. I’ll be stearing clear of Kymi !
