Destinations news Hungarian Vacationers Showing Interest in Greece this Summer by GTP editing team 19 June 2023 written by GTP editing team 19 June 2023 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 10 The Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Greece is winning over more Hungarian travelers this year who are choosing to stay at hotels or book package deals, according to the Association of Hungarian Travel Agencies (MUISZ). In an interview to Hungarian business newspaper Világgazdaság, Balázs Bakó, a representative of MUISZ, said that summer bookings had started with a “higher-than-expected” rate. Greece is the leading destination of choice for Hungarian travelers who are also looking into Turkey and Spain. Bakó said demand had been growing dynamically since last spring and that activity during the pre-booking period had increased driven by special prices and discounts. He went on to add that once schools are out, people will be booking accommodation, package travel and charter flights. He warned however that last-minute travelers will find it difficult to find flights or accommodation to holiday destinations in Greece or Spain this late into the season. According to MUISZ data, Hungarians are booking higher-end, four- to five-star hotels despite the cost-of-living crisis looking to benefit from the favorable euro exchange rates. According to HungaryToday, a trip from Hungary to the Greek islands including flight and accommodation costs comes to about 540 euros per person, with package deals, which include flights, accommodation, Hungarian-speaking guide and transfers – going for 810-945 euros.
