A 30-member group of Greek travel agents and journalists recently had the opportunity to participate in an inspection of the Enchanted Princess ship of Princess Cruise Lines at Piraeus port. Homeporting this year from Piraeus for scheduled 7-day cruises around the Mediterranean, the Enchanted Princess cruise ship is the 100th ship from the Fincantieri shipyard and has the capacity to accommodate up to 3,660 passengers and 1,346 crew members. The Greek travel agents and journalists were given a grand tour of the ship and its facilities during the inspection event organized by Amphitrion Group, Princess Cruise Lines’ selected representative in Greece. The Enchanted Princess, along with its sister ships, is owned by Carnival Corporation & plc Group, a world leader in the industry with a fleet of 103 ships and over 11.5 million passengers in 2016. With 17 decks and 1,834 cabins, the ship offers numerous dining and recreational options for guests. Accommodation Accommodation options range from affordable interior cabins to cabins with balconies, premium ocean view cabins, mini-suites, wheelchair-accessible rooms, and the exclusive Sky Suite. The Sky Suite is characterized as a “home away from home at sea” with exclusive service and amenities, and it boasts the largest balcony at sea, spanning over 1,000 square feet. Guests can enjoy inclusive options like Gigi’s Pizzeria and the World’s Fresh Marketplace for light meals, as well as the 24-hour Princess International Café. Specialty dining options include The Catch by Rudi, Sabatini’s Trattoria, and the Crown Grill, which was named the “Best Cruise Ship Steakhouse” by USA TODAY. Guests can experience original musical productions and world-class entertainers, including magicians, comedians, singers, instrumentalists, jugglers, and balancing acts, at the Princess Theater. They can also visit the poolside open-air amphitheater to watch films, concerts, or sporting events. Art lovers can attend art history lectures highlighting some of the world’s greatest masters or participate in the Champagne Art Auctions, which offer the chance to view and bid on a wide range of fine art, including pieces by famous artists such as Thomas Kinkade, Peter Max, and Michael Godard. They can also create their own teams and participate in onboard basketball or volleyball championships. Beauty, Spa, and Wellness For wellness and relaxation, the ship provides luxurious cabins with scientifically engineered mattresses, the Lotus Spa, a fitness center, and the new Enclave suite. The Enclave is Princess’ largest-ever thermal suite and features a dramatic hydro-therapy pool with a cascading rain shower and therapeutic air jets. Its features include The Hammam, a Turkish-style steam bath, The Caldarium, a light steam chamber infused with herbal aromas, and The Laconium, a heated dry chamber that helps with the purification and detoxification of the body. It also provides the MedallionClass Vacations, powered by the Medallion device, which is the travel industry’s most advanced wearable device. The Medallion is offered free of charge to every passenger and enhances and simplifies the passenger experience. In 2023, the Enchanted Princess will continue to operate multiple cruises from and to Piraeus, stopping at destinations including Crete, Mykonos, Corfu, Katakolon (Olympia), and Santorini. Looking ahead to 2024, Princess Cruises will launch the Sun Princess, their largest-ever ship, which will embark on voyages to Greece, Italy, France, and Turkey. The Sun Princess will feature The Dome, a cutting-edge entertainment space inspired by the tiered cliffs of Santorini, and it will be the company’s first ship powered by eco-friendly Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). It will homeport at Piraeus for a number of its 2024 cruises, call at Corfu, and make late-night calls to Santorini and Mykonos.
