Greece has ranked as the 5th most cyber-secure country in Europe, according to recent research by the application security company Indusface. With data showing that 68 percent of high-revenue growth companies have embraced a hybrid model worldwide, cybersecurity awareness has become more critical than ever. Indusface conducted its research by analyzing historical cyberattack data per country to find the most secure countries to work from. First, they examined detected cyberattacks between 2015 and 2021, sourced from the Digital Attack Map. Then, they used Python data mining tools to extract cybersecurity statistics from over 90 Microsoft Security Intelligence reports (2017). Source: Indusface. Data analysis produced an index score of cyber security, taking into account the factors mentioned above, as well as phishing sites, malware hosting sites, and compromised computers. According to the research, Greece tied with Sweden for the 5th position, achieving a score of 76.31/100 with one of the smallest numbers of compromised computers per 100,000 internet users. Finland and Belgium shared the title of the most secure European countries for businesses to allow employees to work remotely, each with a cybersecurity score of 82.45 out of 100. They were followed by Austria with an overall cybersecurity index score of 80.59/100, and Switzerland that came in 4th. Source: Indusface. On the other hand, Bulgaria ranked as the least secure European country for businesses to allow employees to work remotely, with a total cybersecurity score of only 51.82 out of 100. It was followed by Serbia, Lithuania, Romania, and Croatia. “Businesses that want to support the hybrid model should consider important factors to address remote work security risks, such as: Which countries are least targeted by hackers? What are the country’s data security regulations? Research law enforcement and government grants, and check the level of overall cybersecurity awareness,” said Venky Sundar, Founder and President of Indusface. Last year, Marketing Greece organized the 1st Work from Greece Summit highlighting Greece as an evolving remote work destination with authorities taking actions to facilitate the move.
