Greece is among the Top 10 summer destinations for travelers planning their holidays from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to findings published by Dnata Travel, the largest travel services provider active in the Middle Eastern market. According to the findings, Greece is among the most popular tourist destinations for the summer of 2023, ranking 5th. “A pent-up demand is driving travelers to explore more of the world, including lesser-known places and varied locations across popular hotspots. In addition to the ever-popular destinations of Thailand, Turkey, Italy and UK, we have seen a notable increase in travel to Greece in particular, compared to the same period last year,” said Mira Kattit, head of Tour Packages Sales at Dnata Travel. The leading travel destinations for summer holidays this year are: Thailand, Turkey, Italy, United Kingdom, Greece, Maldives, Bali, Mauritius, Switzerland and Oman. Other popular destinations include Hong Kong, Japan, South Africa, and Denmark with Austria, Spain, Singapore and Sri Lanka also growing in popularity. According to Dnata Travel, 80 percent of all bookings for the year’s longest holiday – the six-day Eid Al Adha weekend – concern international trips, while remaining cover staycations in the Emirates. At the same time, international holiday bookings from June to September increased by 18 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The most popular destination, Thailand, accounts for 23 percent of the company’s bookings this summer with a focus on Bangkok and the islands of Phuket and Krabi. Due to the holiday season and the expected increase in traffic, Air Arabia is advising travelers to use the online check-in service to avoid long queues at the airport. Customers are required to fill in their reservation number, name, flight date, and numbers 36 hours prior to departure time. The low-cost carrier is also offering city check-in facilities around the UAE to speed up the process.
