The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) recently held a tourism marketing event at Southbank, London, in a bid to boost last-minute bookings to Greece for the 2023 summer season.

The event, organized by the organization’s UK & Ireland branch and held in collaboration with the British tour operator On the Beach, was part of the 2023 joint promotional program between GNTO and British tour operators.

One of the UK’s leading tour operators that offers travel packages to Greece, On the Beach ranks fifth in holiday package sales with more than 2 million travelers.

According to the GNTO, the event at Southbank was attended by 180 readers of the British Evening Standard newspaper and 20 British media representatives and food influencers. Representatives from Greek hotel companies at the event included executives from Grecotel, IKOS Resorts, Mitsis Hotels, Stella Hotels Collection and Voulgaris Hospitality Group.

Aiming to showcase Greece as the ideal summer holiday and gastronomy destination, the event included a series of engaging activities such as celebrity chef masterclasses by Irini Tzortzoglou, the winner of the British Master Chef 2019, who shared recipes and gave tips on Greece’s gastronomy.

The event also featured a demonstration on making a masticha-based summer cocktail and a Greek honey masterclass.

Guests also took part in a wine tasting session of Greek labels led by a Greek sommelier and also enjoyed a music and dance event that included food tasting of Greek local products.

The event concluded with a draw and four lucky winners received vouchers for free accommodation stays in Greece from hotel groups.
