Accompanied by Deputy Tourism Minister Elena Rapti, Kefalogianni met with SETE President Yiannis Paraschis and board members with whom she discussed issues affecting the country’s tourism sector and priorities for the year ahead. Key priorities tabled include relevant legislative interventions, reaching out to new markets, maintaining competitiveness, moving ahead with infrastructure and developing special interest tourism options. Forecasts for the year ahead are positive with SETE members pointing to increasing arrivals and revenues. Kefalogianni said the ministry would be working hand in hand with SETE particularly towards the extension of the tourist season and for the regional development of destinations. She went on to stress the need for actions that will focus on sustainability of the sector based on SETE’s proposals in its National Strategy for Tourism 2030 | Action Plans. Touching base after elections last month and her appointment at the tourism ministry, Kefalogianni also met with Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis, Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) President Alexandros Vassilikos, and Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis.
