Malaysia Airlines Appoints New Chief Commercial Officer

Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG) recently appointed Dersenish Aresandiran (Dersi) as its new chief commercial officer of its airlines.

According to a company announcement, Aresandiran will play a central role in shaping the commercial strategy for MAG airlines’, namely Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASwings.

Aresandiran is no stranger to the Group, having previously served as Global Head of Revenue Management & Commercial Planning for Malaysia Airlines from March 2018 to July 2021. During that time, he demonstrated outstanding leadership and contributed significantly to the growth the airline. Aresandiran then moved on to his career with Qatar Airways, further enhancing his expertise in the aviation industry.

“With more than 16 years of experience, Dersi has a proven track record of implementing rapid and effective change in various markets. His expertise extends to both full-service and low-cost companies, making him an invaluable addition to our Group,” the announcement said.

Aresandiran’s comeback to MAG is expected to strengthen the airline and contribute to the Group’s long term business plan.

Moreover, MAG appointed Syazwan Ahmad Sabri as its airlines’ new Head of Global Sales. Sabri succeeds Roslan Ismail who took over as Head of Business Development at Amal, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MAG.

“Sabri’s exceptional skills as a pricing strategist and his achievements in revenue optimization and market demand management will be of great value in his new role to identify growth opportunities, provide greater support and ensure customer satisfaction across the markets,” the announcement said.
