Badr Mohammed Al Meer. Global customers, for the tenth time, ranked Qatar Airways as the World’s Best Business Class at the esteemed Skytrax World Airline Awards event held in Paris. Introduced in 1999 to provide a customer satisfaction study that was truly global, the World Airline Awards are wholly independent and impartial. Travellers across the world vote in the largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to determine the award winners. “This is testimony to the collective endeavour in the airline that enables us to deliver an unsurpassed customer experience,” Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said about the airline’s win of the World’s Best Business Class 2023 award. Photo source: Qatar Airways At the Skytrax 2023 World Airline Awards, Qatar Airways also won the award for its Al Mourjan Lounge at Hamad International Airport, signaling its dominance in the World’s Best Business Class Lounge category. The Al Mourjan lounge additionally received the premier accolade for the World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining. Qatar Airways was also honoured with the title of Best Airline in the Middle East for the eleventh time in the history of the awards. “Three further awards for Best Airline in the Middle East, World’s Best Business Class Lounge and World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining illustrate Qatar Airways’ leadership in the sector, as well as, its high degree of innovation and commitment,” Akbar Al Baker added. On his part, Skytrax Edward Plaisted said that Qatar Airways is “a very firm favourite” amongst customers. “Winning these top awards in 2023 demonstrates that their Business Class, both onboard flights and in the airports, stands out well above their competitors,” Plaisted said. Photo source: Qatar Airways Qatar Airways currently flies to more than 160 destinations worldwide, connecting through its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport, voted by Skytrax as the ‘World’s Best Airport’ in 2021 and 2022 consecutively. This year, Hamad International Airport has been ranked by Skytrax as the second-best airport in the world, and received the ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ accolade for the ninth time in a row, as well as ‘World’s Best Airport Shopping’. The Skytrax 2023 World Airline Awards event was held at the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace at the Paris Air Show in late June.
