According to Mabrian data, all four destinations increased their air capacity for the summer compared to 2022. As a result, Mediterranean destinations are vying to win over travelers from the US. In Greece and Spain, capacity and direct flights from the US are up by about 20 percent. Indicative of the demand in Greece by US travelers, travel receipts in the first quarter of the year came close to pre-pandemic 2019 levels, reaching 732.9 million euros compared to 760 million euros, driven in large part by US arrivals and spending.
