A recent survey of digital nomads sees Greece as the 13th most popular destination for remote workers this summer. Conducted by WebWorkTravel, the survey asked digital nomads from around the world to rate their favorite destinations based on factors such as cost of living, internet speed, climate, and availability of co-working spaces. The site managed to collect nearly 500 responses, comments, or votes from two of the largest digital nomads’ Facebook groups (Nomadbase – The Digital Nomad Community and Digital Nomads Around the World), as well as from one of the biggest communities on Reddit – the Digital Nomad subreddit, boasting more than 2 million members. Spain (15.3 percent), Thailand (10 percent), and the United States (8.8 percent) claimed the top three spots, followed by Portugal and Italy. Spain topped the list not just for its rich cultural heritage, unique beaches, and cuisine, but also because, compared to other European destinations, living there is still relatively affordable. Furthermore, Spain has recently launched visas for non-EU citizens and non-Spanish corporate employees, which are a perfect option for digital nomads who would like to experience Spain and all it has to offer. Thailand, which came in second, is a popular destination for digital nomads for quite some time, and the city of Chiang Mai is often considered to be the digital nomad capital of the world. There are many reasons for this, including the city’s great internet connection, abundance of cafés to work from, delicious food, and natural beauty. The cost of living in Chiang Mai is also very low, making it a great option for those looking to save money while working remotely.
