The study focused on Europe’s 10 busiest airports, examining elements that induce stress among travelers. Findings highlighted airports far from city centers, limited facilities, and expensive parking as major stress contributors. Charles de Gaulle in Paris ranked as the most stressful airport, serving over 57 million passengers annually. Situated 40 kilometers away from the city center, accessing the airport becomes challenging for tourists, and limited dining options for its size add to the stress. Source: StreeFree Car Rental. London Heathrow secured the second position, holding the worst record for delays among Europe’s busiest airports while Gatwick Airport ranked third in stress levels, situated 45.7 kilometers from its nearest city, causing passengers to arrive fatigued even before check-in. Rome’s Fiumicino airport and Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport rounded up the top 5. It is worth noting that Frankfurt Airport in Germany took the seventh spot on the list due to its expensive parking at 234 euros per week, although it is closer to a city center than any other airport on the list and has one of the highest numbers of restaurants and Wi-Fi connection speed. In contrast, Rome’s Leonardo Da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport offers parking at just 20 euros for seven days. John Charnock, CEO of Stressfree Car Rental said that considering which airport tourists will fly to can make or break their holiday. “The whole airport experience can be very stressful and wait times, expensive fees and slow Wi-Fi for entertainment can quickly dampen your holiday,” he added. The car rental website also issued a list of the “least stressful” European airports. The top 10 list included the Corfu International Airport.
