MANNA Arcadia on Mount Mainalo in the Peloponnese Opens its Doors

The MANNA Arcadia, a 5-star retreat in the ancient fir forest of Mount Mainalo in the Peloponnese recently opened its doors for the season to guests from Greece and around the world.

The retreat is housed in a historic preserved building of unique architecture that has been restored to its former glory by K-STUDIO, an interior design and architecture firm. Having been declared a protected monument, it dates back to 1929 when it was known as “The Sanatorium of Mana“.

The building was named after Anna Mela, sister of the Macedonian hero Pavlos Melas, who was also the creator of the sanatorium. A woman of aristocratic stature in her time, Anna Mela dedicated both her life and fortune to the care and treatment of wounded soldiers and those afflicted by tuberculosis. Such was her unwavering commitment to her patients that she earned the endearing title “Soldier’s Mother” (mother – “mana” in Greek).

MANNA has 32 rooms and suites, all of which feature air conditioning, mountain views, and a variety of comfort amenities. The hotel offers a range of wellness experiences, including a sauna, hammam, heated cave pool with a skylight, and a restaurant menu curated by award-winning chef Athinagoras Kostakos.

The retreat also offers a number of outdoor wellness activities, including skiing, hiking, horse riding, and biking trails. Guests can also go mushroom hunting in the forest, canoe in the river, or participate in honey harvesting and taste the coveted fir tree honey of the area.

MANNA is located at an altitude of 1200 meters in Arcadia, a region of Greece known for its natural beauty and rich history. A short drive from the town of Tripoli and easily accessible by car, the hotel is surrounded by picturesque villages, rivers, and lakes. The hotel is committed to sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

MANNA Arcadia is a member of Design Hotels, a global collection of independent, design-driven hotels. The independent Greek hospitality company Modus & Amplio runs the hotel’s management.
