Serbian journalist Ivana Dukcevic recently visited the Peloponnese in Greece as part of a press trip organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) branch in Serbia.

The aim of the trip, held also in collaboration with the Peloponnese Region, was to promote the lesser-known destinations of the area and the special forms of tourism they offer.

During her stay, Dukcevic visited Kalamata, Mani, Sparta, and Mystras. She also visited some of the most important cultural sites in the region, such as ancient Messini, the castle of Monemvasia, and the residence of Patrick Lee Fermor in Kardamyli. The Serbian journalist also had the opportunity to learn about the thematic forms of tourism offered in the area such as gastronomic, religious, and rural tourism.

Dukcevic runs the popular travel website umetnostputovanja.rs and works as a travel editor for the Serbian edition of National Geographic magazine, PULSE Online and RTS 2.

Talking about her trip in one of her feature articles, the Serbian journalist highlighted Mani’s rural beauty and the wider area’s lack of mass tourism, as well as the simplicity and freshness of ingredients of dishes served by restaurants in Areopoli.

According to tourism minister sources almost one million Serbs visited Greece in 2022. Earlier this year, Greece and Serbia agreed to strengthen travel between the two countries. Air Serbia, Serbia’s flag carrier, currently operates summer flights to the Greek islands of RhodesCorfu, and Crete (Heraklion and Chania).
