According to the data, out of the total 2,022,461 passengers that traveled, 1.5 million were transported to and from the port of Piraeus, an increase of 8.55 percent. More specifically, during the July 1-31 period, Piraeus saw the total number of passengers rise to 1,538,411 compared to 1,417,249 in July 2022. The port of Piraeus also saw an increase in the number of cars (up by 7.66 percent), trucks (up by 5.73 percent) and motorcycles (up by 7.82 percent) compared to the same period last year. The largest increase in passenger traffic was observed to the Argosaronic Islands with 452,680 people traveling last month compared to 389,908 in July 2022 – a 16.1 percent increase compared to last year. According to the data, 349,330 passengers traveled to and from the port, up from 332,741 in July 2022 – an increase of 4.99 percent. An increase was also recorded in cars (up by 7.47 percent) and motorcycles (up by 4.53 percent) that were transferred. Only the number of trucks dropped by 2.9 percent compared to the same month last year. The port of Lavrio last month also recorded an increase in passenger traffic by 7.57 percent to 134,720 compared to 125,241 in the corresponding month last year. An increase was also observed for cars (up by 8.61 percent).
