Kissamos, a coastal town in western Crete, will host the Green Tourism festival on August 18 and 19, as part of its annual Kissamos Taste & Art Festival week, according to a recent announcement by the Chania Chamber of Commerce. Scheduled to take place at the Kissamos esplanade, the festival will host tourism enterprises, environment protection organizations and businesses operating in the Chania prefecture that will present their products and services. Furthermore, the Chania Chamber will run a series of B2B sessions for visitors and the festival’s participating companies on Saturday August 19, in a bid to facilitate networking and future collaborations. In addition, the Green Tourism Festival will host the presentation of travel packages created in the context of the “Development of a Transnational Network for the Promotion of Sustainable Coastal Tourism – CROSS-COASTAL-NET “program funded by European, Greek and Cypriot funds. The program which saw the collaboration of Chania and Pafos, aimed to create a platform that would highlight overtourism’s negative effects on environmentally sensitive coastal areas and propose sustainable solutions. The Kissamos Taste & Art Festival week will launch on August 16 and run until August 22, hosting a series of culinary and cultural events and exhibitions.
