The 13th edition of Orini (mountainous) Nafpaktia’s Cycling Races is set to take place on August 26-27, according to the event’s organizers “Green + Blue“. Photo source: Green + Blue. The annual cycling event, co-organized by the Nafpaktia Municipality and the Western Greece Region, is scheduled to take place at Ano Hora and an altitude of 1,100 meters with routes running through fir and chestnut tree forests and and by rivers and waterfalls. “This event offers the opportunity to promote Nafpaktos’ authenticity, extend the tourism period and boost the local economy,” said Green + Blue representative Tasos Xydis. Approved by the Hellenic Cycling Federation, Nafpaktia’s Cycling Races will feature open road and mountain bike races that include an open road 35-km bike route, a 40-km and a 26-km mountain bike route and a 40-km route for mountain e-bikes. The event has been successfully held since 2010 and promoted the area as a year-round and sports tourism destination. “Nafpaktia’s Cycling Races has become a must for sports enthusiasts as well as renowned athletes, who we expect to enjoy a unique cycling experience this year,” said Nafpaktia Deputy Mayor Ntinos Tsoukalas. This year’s event will see the participation of amateur participants from across the country as well as professional triathletes and Greek cycling athletes. Registrations are open and will continue until August 14, at www.prasinomple.gr.
