According to an announcement, the Greek Police will boost its presence at road and highway spots across the country that showcase high probability of road accidents. Intensive traffic policing is also expected at all entrances and exits of large Greek cities. In addition, increased traffic control measures will be implemented within Greek urban centers. Photo source: Greke Police. Special traffic control teams will focus on offenses such as speeding, drinking & driving and the use of mobile phones while driving, among others. The Greek Police urges road travelers to: check their vehicles before traveling get updates on road and weather conditions do not use mobile phones or other distracting devices while driving do not drink alcohol before driving protect children in the car by using child seats wear seatbelts and helmets when riding motorcycles do not overestimate their driving skills or the technical specs of their vehicle. In addition, the August 15 holiday week will see the traffic measures seen below. Trucks with a maximum permissible weight of more than 3.5 tonnes will be banned from all roads during the festive period. The police will be deploying additional personnel and resources to traffic control operations. The police will be using a variety of technological means, including speed cameras, radar and drones, to detect traffic violations. The police will be working closely with other government agencies and stakeholders to ensure the safe flow of traffic. Citizens are urged to cooperate with the traffic measures announced, and to drive safely during the August 15 holiday week.
