The highly anticipated The Ellinikon Project along the Athenian Riviera is moving ahead after authorities issued permits for the construction of two shopping, dining and entertainment areas: the Riviera Galleria and Commercial Hub.

The Riviera Galleria, to be designed by award-winning Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, will in a 23,000m2 area at the Agios Kosmas Marina offer high-end shopping options, dining and first-class entertainment. According to developers the project will include global brands, designer stores, premium fashion boutiques, fine restaurants, high-end bars and will be able to host cultural events and performances.

Lamda Development is expected to announce a tender for the Riviera Galleria by the end of the year.

The Ellinikon Commercial Hub will be constructed on Vouliagmenis Ave in a 185,000m2 area to include the Vouliagmenis Mall, the Retail Park, a mixed-use tower and offices. Developers are aiming to create the largest commercial complex in Greece and one of the biggest in Southern Europe.

Construction company AKTOR, awarded the contract, is expected to begin works on the project this month.
