Greece Restaurants, Hotels Mark Q2 Turnover Rise, Mykonos Still Down

Restaurants and hotels in Greece increased turnover in the second quarter of the year boosted by robust tourist flows, said the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) this week.

In total, turnover for both segments of the Greek economy came to approximately 5 billion euros in Q2.

According to ELSTAT’s monthly bulletin, June turnover for both accommodation and food and beverage (F&B) services providers came to 1,426,062,915 euros, up by 11.8 percent over the same month in 2022 (1,275,112,688 euros).

The best performing regional unit in June was Lassithi (Crete) marking a 16.7 percent rise over the same month a year ago and the smallest increase (4.4 percent) was recorded in the regional unit of Kos. Turnover in June for Greece’s hotel enterprises  came to 1,168,607,895 euros up by 13.1 percent over June 2022 and 1,033,074,661 euros.

April-June 2023 F&B, hotel turnover, Mykonos sees smallest increase

ELSTAT’s data showed that turnover for accommodation services providers from April to June 2023 rose by 16.6 percent to 2,455,714,744 euros up from 2,105,983,075 euros in the same period in 2022.

The best performance was recorded in the regional unit of Attica were turnover was up by 23.8 percent and the smallest increase (1.5 percent) in the regional unit of Mykonos.

Food and beverage services providers reported a 9.1 percent rise in turnover in Q2 to 2,253,518,458 euros up from 2,064,837,572 euros in the same period 2022. The best performing regional unit was Etoloakarnania marking a 21.7 percent increase with the regional unit of Thessaloniki reporting the smallest increase at 1.8 percent. The regional unit of Mykonos marked a 4.9 percent decline.

Turnover in June for Greece’s restaurant, bar and café businesses came to 257,455,020 euros marking a 6.4 percent rise over June 2022 and 242,038,027 euros.
