Cyprus Airways, the flag carrier of Cyprus, has recently announced that it carried 77,656 passengers in July 2023, an increase of 70 percent over the same month last year. This is a record number of passengers for the airline in recent years. The airline attributed the increase in passengers to the addition of the new Airbus A220 to its fleet, as well as the strong demand for travel to Cyprus during the summer months. In July, Cyprus Airways operated 548 scheduled flights, 211 more flights over last year. The airline also carried 41 percent more passengers on its scheduled services compared to June 2019, the company’s most important benchmark, before the start of the pandemic. The airline offers flights to 19 destinations, including Athens, Beirut, Tel Aviv, Yerevan, Paris, Rome, Dubai, Milan-Malpensa, Prague, and Zurich. Photo source: Cyprus Airways. The airline is in the process of upgrading its fleet with new, more environmentally friendly aircraft. The new Airbus A220, which entered into service in July, is offering passengers a unique on-board travel experience. The aircraft is also helping Cyprus Airways reduce its environmental impact. The Airbus A220 offers up to 25 percent less CO2 emissions, a lower noise footprint, and a totally new customer comfort standard.
