I’m going to put this award in our meeting room so that our staff knows that we do not take them for granted,” said Chaidemenos following his award acceptance, at the Virtuoso Travel Awards gala ceremony held in Las Vegas earlier this month. Virtuoso, one of the world’s leading network of luxury and experiential travel companies, hosts the Travel Week event every year which culminates to the Best of the Best awards gala honoring individuals and organizations that have stood out for their high level of service in the travel and hospitality industry. The Canaves Oia Luxury Resorts history dates back to 1983 when Yannis and Anna Chaidemenou decided to convert a traditional winery into a hotel by establishing the Canaves Oia Boutique Hotel. Since then, and after Markos Chaidemenos and his brother Alexandros took over their parents hotel business, the family has managed to create some of the most award-winning accommodation on Santorini, recognized by renowned publications like Conde Nast Traveler and Travel & Leisure. Over the next five years, the group’s investment plan will focus on upgrading the existing hotels on Santorini and expanding the brand to other Aegean islands.
